SOMERSET, KY (November 7, 2025) –U.S. Rep. Harold “Hal” Rogers, Dean of the House, has filed for re-election for Kentucky’s Fifth Congressional District. President Donald J. Trump endorsed Rogers for Congress on November 2, 2025.

Hal Rogers is a proven champion for Kentucky’s Fifth Congressional District. A few of the remarkable highlights from his tireless service include:

  • He has secured more than $800 million for flood control projects to protect every community along the Cumberland River, as well as flood control projects on the Big Sandy and Tug Fork, with new studies underway along the Kentucky River. 
  • After 20 years of successful work through Operation UNITE, Kentucky’s overdose death rates are down 30%. 
  • He has transformed transportation across the Appalachian region through projects like the Cumberland Gap Tunnel, and expansions on the Mountain Parkway, US 119, US 460, among many other roadways. 
  • The downturn of the coal industry prompted him to co-found Shaping Our Appalachian Region (SOAR) to diversify our economy and spur innovation in every community. 
  • With job creation at the forefront of his vision for the region, he launched the Southeast Kentucky Economic Development Corporation (SKED) to support small businesses and federal contract networks. 
  • Education, healthcare, agriculture, and housing have remained at the top of his priority list for Eastern Kentucky, protecting key programs from waste, fraud and abuse at every turn. 
  • He also developed exclusive federal funding for southern and eastern Kentucky, to clean up the region and expand access to clean drinking water and reliable wastewater in all 33 counties.
